The last in a series of four political forums, sponsored by The Expositor, was held June 29, at White County Middle School. Participating in the forum were candidates for register of deeds, including incumbent Gary Brogden and challenger Mike Breeding, as well as candidates for road superintendent, including Larry W. McCoy, Clay Parker and Dillard Quick. Kent Sherrell, challenger candidate for road superintendent, arrived near the end of the forum. He had explained to the moderator, Kim Swindell Wood, he might not be able to attend because of commitments to a job he is working in Nashville. Also participating in the forum was White County School Board candidate for District 5, Donna Wallace Jones. Challenger in the District 5 race, Steve Cayce, did not attend. School board candidates Edd M. Cantrell II, for District 6, and Kenneth Robinson, for District 7, did not participate. Both candidates run unopposed in their prospective districts. Candidates addressed questions that were gathered from several sources, including those submitted by White County residents and representatives of the Democratic and Republican parties, as well as from those in the audience. The questions covered a range of topics related to the positions the candidates are seeking.
